Florian KieferMD, PhD is Associate Professor of Medicine and Head of the Endocrine Outpatient Clinic at the Division of Endocrinolgy & Metabolism at the Medical University of Vienna. After earning his medical degree at the University of Vienna, he also obtained a PhD degree from the Medical University of Vienna before joining Harvard Medical School as a Postdoctoral Research fellow. He completed his residency and clinical fellowship at the Vienna General Hospital.

Dr Kiefer is currently serving as President of the Austrian Obesity Association and he is an active board member of the Austrian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is also a research group leader of multiple peer-reviewed projects and investigator in international clinical trials. Dr Kiefer has published numerous academic articles in the fields of energy metabolism, obesity and endocrine disorders. He is recipient of several awards including the prestigous Theodor-Billroth Prize and the Paracelsus Award. Dr Kiefer serves as a reviewer for multiple international scientific journals.
